American Moving and Storage Association (AMSA) at 703.683.7410 This is a private organization made up pf various moving companies, designed to help both the customer and the moving company. They help decipher government regulations and can help with any questions regarding moving.
Illinois Commerce Commission at 217-782-4654. All moves happening within a state are governed by that state’s D.O.T. or Commerce Commission. Call to verify each mover’s license and insurance coverage.
Federal Highway Administration (FHA) at 202.358.7027 This federal agency governs all interstate moves. For long distance moves, call the FHA to verify each mover’s license and insurance coverage.
Illinois Movers and Warehousemen’s Association at 888.791.2516 The Illinois Movers and Warehousemen’s Association is a private agency which acts as a liaison between consumers and the Illinois Commerce Commission, which regulates moving in Illinois, the Illinois Department of Agriculture, which regulates warehousing in Illinois, and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, which regulates interstate moving.”
